Greenfield Beautification Committee was founded on the idea of beautifying the city through awareness of well landscaped properties.
Our team is made up entirely of volunteers. Dues are minimal and there are two member's gatherings in the Summer and at Christmas time.
We are especially happy to add new volunteers who share our commitment to planting, trees and general beautifying our community's landscapes.
The Greenfield Beautification Committee has worked steadily over the past two decades to beautify the city of Greenfield and in doing so, we have also fostered a growing sense of community and pride! We strive to develop, promote, and facilitate this improvement by using natural elements of earth, trees, and flowers. We work cooperatively with Greenfield’s citizens, both residential and commercial, to achieve this goal.
In October, 1993, at a Greenfield Common Council meeting, Mayor James Besson read the proclamation which declared the institution of the Greenfield Beautification Committee as an “Official Volunteer Organization” in the City of Greenfield.
At that time Greenfield had no parks, no trees on boulevards, a few ragged city signs and blighted vacant lots. We had no city center and sorely lacked a sense of community.
We began with 12 members. At our first meeting we developed our mission. We also set our goals for that year and beyond. Here we are in 2018 In these 25 years we have helped to beautify
Greenfield beyond our hopes, and in so doing we have also fostered a sense of community.
